Oliver O'Hanlon introduced Wagyu in 2008 with the importation of fullblood embryos from Australia. The herd is registered with the Australian Wagyu Association so that pedigrees can be traced back to Japan. Breeding stock is available for sale plus semen and embryos
The herd has a balance between milk from Fukutsuru and marbling from Iohana 2 and Michifuku in the Lake Wagyu foundation embryos which were imported to Ireland.
Semen from Ohanasaki Brilliant is avalialble for sale and is accredited for export and is used extensivley locally and on the continent.
Embryos from Ohanasaki Breda and Ohanasaki Harriet from SPL Yojimbo Mr Shou 05 are also produced. Both Ohanasaki Brilliant and Ohanasaki Breda have strong marble score, milk production and growth rate from Lake Wagyu Y047. Their common sire gives them small birth weight so this is an advantage for crossing on other breeds.
In-calf recip Black Herefords can be shipped to mainland Europe carrying Fullblood calves. Embryos from Irish Kobe Fuji over Ohanasaki Breda will have predicted EBVs which are above average for growth rate from 200 day through to mature, +5 kg for milk, +0.3 for marble score and +0.2 for fineness of marbling. Recip cows like the one photographed to the right will be shipped in calf. This high growth in fullblood Wagyu with good marbling is excellent value and one of the most convenient ways to commence raising 100% Wagyu cattle.
Recently Oliver imported embryos from leading Australian exporters to take advantage of the latest genetics. He imported semen from Trent Bridge F115 the top marbling Australian export sire and has semen in stock in Ireland for distribution through Ireland, UK and Europe.
